The Vestry will meet this Tuesday (12/9) at 7PM via Zoom. I will send out a link to the meeting around noon on Tuesday.
Poinsettias Thanksgiving and Memorial- Attached
One of our very special All Saints’ traditions is the Christmas Poinsettia. During the Christmas season, Poinsettias are donated to the church as a Memorial for a loved one or as Thanksgiving for a special person or blessing that God has given you. The Poinsettias will be used during the Christmas Season to decorate the church.
If you would like to donate a Poinsettia, please complete the form and turn it in to the Church. The price of each poinsettia is $15.00. Make your check out to All Saints’ Church with “Poinsettias” written on the memo line and then drop it in the offering plate.
Poinsettia forms are available:
- In the 1st attachment to this newsletter.
- On our web page. Simply fill out the form online and then hit “submit”. You will find the form here: Link

Below is a reminder for those who signed up to read one of our Advent Wreath readings along with the week you signed up to read. The Advent reading occurs before the start of the service proper (before the opening hymn) and serves as an introduction to the week’s service. I will email you the reading on the Thursday prior to your Sunday to read along with a brief set of instructions on how the service works. Here is the list of our Advent Wreath readers:
11/30 First Sunday in Advent- Niemeyer Family

12/14 Third Sunday in Advent- Johnston Family
12/21 Fourth Sunday in Advent- Sloan Family
12/24 Christmas Eve- Killinger Family
Advent- What and Why
This Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent. As you all probably already know, Advent is a time in which we prepare ourselves to celebrate Christ’s birth. Unfortunately, too often we get caught up in the rat race of Christmas shopping, holiday traffic, and party preparations. Therefore, I would like to encourage you to make use of the many different resources that our church provides to help you stay focused and come to the nativity of our Lord truly prepared to worship and celebrate.
One of these resources is the liturgical color of the season. As you enter the church, the color violet reminds you of the way you are to prepare during Advent. Violet is the color of repentance. As such, you are reminded that Advent is a time of sober reflection in which you recall your need for our Savior as well as God’s amazing mercy in sending Him. Violet is also the color of humility. Not only does it remind you of Christ’s humility in becoming man and being born in a lowly manger, it also reminds you of your own humility. Therefore, Advent is traditionally a time of humble prayer. Thus, I encourage you to consider setting aside a specific time in the week as a special time of prayer.
Regardless of how you chose to prepare, I hope you will keep violet in mind, look for it as you shop or drive around town and let it be a quiet reminder to you of the way you, as God’s child, are to approach this holiday season. This Advent, think Violet.
Another resource that I encourage you to use is the morning and evening prayer services offered on our web page (see this week’s web feature below). Set aside a moment each day (or as often as you can during the week) to go through one of these offices. I recommend the short versions of Morning and Evening Prayer. Both are very rewarding.
It is my conviction, that if you will make use of these and the other resources our church provides, that you will find this Christmas to be a rich and spiritually rewarding time for you and your family.
